The "shortest and sweetest" GMPLS/G.ASON tutorial yet?
I was asked to give an overview talk on the optical control plane, i.e., GMPLS/G.ASON, for the European Conference on Optical Communications (ECOC 2004). The catch was a paper was required for the proceedings with a maxium length of four pages. Hence this short and sweet tutorial.

Tutorials in the works:

The Three fundamental Switching Types
Modern networks don't just employ one type of switching, in fact up to three fundamental switching types are frequently combined. This tutorial review the three fundamental switching types: (1) circuit switching, (2) packet virtual circuit switching, and (3) connectionless packet switching. Work in progress.
Deciphering RSVP: An object oriented guide to the various flavors of RSVP
RSVP can be used to make "reservations" for all three fundamental switching types discussed above and in fact different flavors of reservations within those types. Since the RSVP protocol consists of a plethora of objects, it makes sense to look at this from an object oriented point of view. This guide uses text and UML diagrams to increase ones understanding of this seemingly ubiquitous protocol. Work in progress.
